There is no choice you've ever made nor any you will ever make, that will limit you as much as you may fear. Nor even limit you at all. How cool is that? ~ TUT
When you don't follow a curriculum
You make your own learning path
When you don't plan your learning path according to outside standards
You make up your own standards
When you make up your own standards
You must be willing to know what you want and need
As you learn what you want and need
You must be willing change direction midstream
If you change direction midstream
You must be willing to get messy and fall
If you fall
You must be willing to get up, learn from it, and try again
Or not
If you are not willing to dig deeper and look further
You might fall again
(It could be fun!)
Or you could continue to pursue the "wrong" path
You are
Learning to take care of yourself
You are
Learning to live an authentic life
You are
Learning personal responsibility
And to learn as you go
Eventually, in her timely way
Life, in all her creative visions and forms, teaches you
As you live with her, interact with with her, enjoy her, wrangle with her
Math, Science, Geography, Literature, Social Studies, Language Arts
Do not make a person equipped or whole
They do not prepare you for your dance with Life
Life prepares people with each new experience we choose
(And those we do not chose)
And she invokes the muse of knowledge as we live out
Our longing for her
It is never too late to learn anything
Even if it involves a curriculum.. ha!
If you so choose
Or not.
Enjoy the cookie!

Is that supposed to be poetic? It looks like it is.

Robin, I LOVE this. When I first read it, I thought "she really gets it."
Very creative piece.

Hi Tigger, The muse made me do it. I think it can be called a poem, but that might be a personal interpretation.:-)I began writing poetry when I was around 8 years old and loved, loved to play with words. Got all into poetry classes in college and even had a grand time looking through my thesaurus finding just the right word with the right meaning and sound for whatever I was working on. Sometimes it is fun to remember how much I loved to do that and to let myself try again. I wrote another post last year that was also muse inspired (in other words.. a kind of rush and fun no matter the outcome!), and I guess it's a poem as well because it certainly is not an essay. Creative writing, as Jackie mentions, might best sum it up! Robin

This is great. May I keep it around just to refer to it every now and again?
